Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Ref. jur. Bernd Jöstingmeier is a Professor of General Business Administration, with a focus on Human Resources, Leadership, Organization, and Innovation Management, at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) Stuttgart, since 2002. In 2003, he founded the Innovation Management Association, based in Saarbrücken, together with other academics, and served as the association's first Chairman of the Board (2003-2006). From 2003 to 2007, he also served as a professor in the international MBA postgraduate program "Business & Management in International Industry" at the Open University Business School (OU), Great Britain, in collaboration with the University of Cooperative Education, the Association of the Metal and Electrical Industries Baden-Württemberg e.V. (Südwestmetall), and BBQ Berufliche Bildung gGmbH.
Prof. Dr. Jöstingmeier completed a double degree in economics and law, completing both programs at Philipps University Marburg (Diplom-Kaufmann; Referendar jur.). He also studied the specialization program "International Business Operations" and received a certificate from the Department of Economics at Philipps University Marburg. At the Chair of Industrial Management at Philipps University Marburg, he worked as a research assistant to Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Eberhard Dülfer, particularly in the area of ​​international management.
In 1991, he taught "Economics and Management" at the University of Kent at Canterbury, and in 1991 and 1992, he taught "Introduction to Business Administration" in the Department of Economics at Philipps University Marburg. In 1993, he received his doctorate from the Department of Economics at Philipps University Marburg with a dissertation entitled "On the Business Ethics of Internationally Active Enterprises".
From 1993 to 1995, he was Managing Director of the Institute for Cooperative Studies at Philipps University Marburg and, at the same time, Managing Director of the Institute's Support Association. In the winter semester of 1994/95, he held a teaching position at the Department of Economics at Philipps University Marburg. He then joined Geschka & Partner Management Consulting before joining Union Krankenversicherung AG (UKV), the private health insurance arm of the public insurers, in the same year. He began there as assistant to the CEO and became project manager for the implementation of a new project organization for the entire company. Later, he became head of the human resources department and head of the executive staff of Union Krankenversicherung AG.
In 2004 and 2005, he gave guest lectures on "Human Resources Management and Leadership in Newly Founded Companies" at the Technical University of Darmstadt in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Department of the Institute of Business Administration. In the summer semester of 2007, he was appointed to teach "Technology and Innovation Management" at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. In the winter semester of 2008/2009, he was appointed to teach "Human Resources Management" at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences. In 2010, he gave guest lectures at the Wilhelm Büchner University (Private Distance Learning University Darmstadt) and the University of Bremen. From 2014 to 2024, in addition to his work at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg) in Stuttgart, he has held numerous teaching assignments at FOM University, including lectures on "Internationalization Strategies," "International Economics – Foreign Trade," "Human Resources," "Human Resources Development," "Marketing Controlling," and "Human Resources Controlling," as well as various compact courses.

Prof. Dr. Jöstingmeier is the founder of the Innovius Institute for Innovation Management and Strategy ®.
He is an avid drummer (hobby) and a volunteer board member of the German Rock and Pop Musicians Association (DRMV).
He took piano lessons from the age of 7 to 12. He then taught himself to play the drums by listening to and analyzing songs and concert films. After four years of self-taught training, he took drum lessons from various teachers. He subsequently became a drum teacher at the Darmstadt-Dieburg District Music School (Kreismusikschule Darmstadt-Dieburg) and a drummer in various bands in pop, rock, and jazz-rock genres. In 2008, he released the CD "Professor BJ: Drummer's Paradise."

As a child, at around the age of 9, he wrote his first crime novels and gave them to his parents for Christmas.

He is a Christian by conviction.
